Rwanda - Inzovu Estate AA
Processing: Wet Processed
A light fruity spiced AA grade coffee from west Rwanda, where the volcanic soil is one of the most fertile in Africa.
Only 138 miles from the equator and at 1,400+ meters above sea level, conditions are perfect for producing complex speciality quality coffee.
This particular coffee comes from a Rwandan exporter who recently won the Cup of Excellence for a Rwandan coffee with 1st and 2nd place!
This coffee was hand picked from the very same estate.
- This coffee is beautifully bright, floral and fruity with dried cranberry and orange blossom notes. Complex yet balanced, this coffee has a light body and gentle sparkling acidity all highlighted by overtones of vanilla and cinnamon.
This coffee was produced by a group of 30 coffee members who call themselves ‘Urengerekawa’ which means let us protect coffee.
The members are part of a cooperative formed in 2007, with an idea of having their own wet mill so that they could produce, treat and sell their own coffee of much improved quality.
The farms are located in the South Western part of the country in the Rusizi district, Nyakabuye sector, Barenga village.
Each member of the co-op owns equal share and has between 350 to 2,500 trees.
Rwanda is a very ethical place to buy coffee; Good crop and high cherry prices of this season improved welfare of many farmers, children’s schooling and sorting out basic needs, more than just quality coffee it’s helping support one of the poorest countries in the world.
